Barbed Wire Books is Longmont’s newest and largest used book store. We sell new and used books at substantially less than a chain bookstore can.
We accept gently used books in exchange for trade credit which can then be used to purchase other used books.
Come here to see an array of local artist’s works; textiles by a variety of artists include unique wall hangings, custom clothing, wood carvings, stained glass, purses and bags, scarves and bookmarks. We also have a collection of one-of-a-kind jewelry and beautiful wood carvings.
About Kathe
Kathe Heinecken, proud owner of Barbed Wire Books, has been involved with books her entire life. Her first job was in a bookstore, wrapping books at Christmas at age 14. She then worked with gifted kids for many years, introducing her students to both reading and writing. She has volunteered for various libraries and worked at a used book store for about four years before deciding to open her own store. She has a great deal of knowledge about books and authors and is happy to make recommendations. Ask her to tell you the story about the mudslide and the overdue library books!

Barbed Wire Books is located at 504 Main St. in Longmont’s historic old-town downtown area. We are on the east side of Main St. just north of Winchell’s donut shop. Barbed Wire Books parking is available behind (east) of the Winchell’s parking lot as well as on 5th, on Main and in the public lot at the corner of 6th and Kimbark.
